Career history and research interests

Niall Coakley graduated from UCC in 1995 with a B.E. in Electrical Engineering. He was awarded an M.Eng.Sc. in 1997 for research employing a pulse-width modulation (PWM) inverter-fed power line as a communications channel for modulated digital information at rates of over 40 kbps.

In 1998 he joined ParthusCeva as a design engineer. During his time with ParthusCeva he was involved in the design of application specific integrated circuits (ASICs) with a particular emphasis on high-performance Sigma-Delta Digital to Analogue Converters for audio applications.

In 2002 Niall joined the Faculty of Engineering in Dublin Institute of Technology where he currently lectures in both analogue and digital electronics. His current research interests include analogue and digital circuit design and signal processing.
