Research into Wireless and Software Support Systems for Ubiquitous Computing

The increasing diversity of mobile personal electronic communication devices from the simple pager to PDAs, and full portable workstations presents the opportunity to explore the use of different devices in a flexible manner. In particular ubiquitous communications and pervasive computing offer the promise of dynamic integration of embedded computing resources, information appliances and traditional computers to empower users.

The provision of software systems to support such diversity particularly in relation wireless technologies is the focus of the research.
